August is a month for taking it easy. The long, languid days signal that it's time to slow our pace, working in rhythm with the heat, rather than trying to defy its influence upon us. The popular term for this is "going with the flow" ~ and those who have been out of sync with their surroundings know how frustrating it can be to try to swim against the current. Of course, sometimes you have to dive right in and do just that, but often you can reach the same destination by either relinquishing control temporarily to the flow or trying a cross-current approach instead.
